Inner Dialogue/Radio

Pastor Gene talked about our inner dialogue the other day. You know that ongoing conversation you have with yourself that no one else can hear. He said we needed a positive ID. So, despite some very difficult baggage with our house in Georgia that needs to sell now, I am attempting to keep a positive ID. My mom says to stay in the Word, which I am trying to do. However, along with that, my mind tends to work in song for some reason. I think of songs when someone says a phrase from a song or when something reminds me of a song. This happens entirely too much by the way. I therefore have an inner radio along with my inner dialogue.

When I was little, my grandmother always woke us up by saying, "Rise and Shine Morning Glory!". For me, this translated into that children's song about Noah's Ark. You know the one...."the Lord said to Noah you're gonna build an arky arky". There is a verse that says, "So rise and shine and give God the glory glory!" I still sing this in my head whenever I hear anything about rise, shine, or morning glories.

In my quest to be positive, I have a current conflict of songs that will not get out of my head. It would've been much easier to use "Beautiful Day" by U2 like Pastor Gene did, but no I have to be much more annoying with my subconcious choices. Here is a sample of my inner radio...

More of the Noah song..."Rise and shine and give God the glory glory, everything is hunky dory!"
"Here's a little song I wrote....Don't worry, Be happy!"
"I'm walking on sunshine!"
"If your happy and you know it clap your hands..."

It goes on and on... feel good songs on either a child's level or that annoying can't stop singing it kind. Please help! I need to rock out instead. Happy is definitely good, but I need a new theme or better songs please!

On a more serious note, I want to thank my mother. The advice about staying in God's Word is working wonders on my positive inner dialogue!

Open Sesame!

So, back when my son Mason was about three years old, we went for a little trip to the local grocery store. This store had one of those doors that senses when you step on the mat and then the doors open. Mason, who was tiny at three, walked up to the door and nothing happened. He looked at me and said " The door is stuck". I asked him what he was going to do about it. He then replied, "I'll use my magic to open it." He walked right up to the door, waved his arms in a grand way, and said " open sesame!!" At just that time, I stepped on the mat and the door opened. Mason stared in astonishment and said "It worked, I really can do magic!" I smiled, amused at his sense of accomplishment, and we continued in to shop.

Later, I thought about all that had happened. I began to wonder if God ever looks at us and smiles with amusement..."She thought she did that all by herself." It's just like that Footprints poem. We hardly ever realize how awesome God is at sustaining and maintaining us as we walk through life. He doesn't need the recognition for standing by us because He is already glorious. But, how blessed we are that we get the opportunity to praise him for always being there for us!!!

Ephesians 3:19b-21 "And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you'll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ's love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God. 20-21God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us."

More than we realize, more than we can imagine...Next time, I'm going to take time to think about who's preparing the path for me and helping me to open doors in life.

I'm ready to "Reach out and experience the breadth (of God's love for me)! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God."

Now, to you God ...here's my heart - "Open Sesame!!!"

Kindling...

One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Jeremiah 20:9b. "His word burns in my heart like a fire. It's like a fire in my bones! I am worn out trying to hold it in! I can't do it!" There are many times when I read God's word or when I fellowship with Christian friends that I feel just like this. As I was working one night, I began to consider why I don't feel this "fire" more often. That's when the idea of kindlingkimberly was born. This blogspot is to help us see God in the small things everyday. These small glimpses of glory can be a kindling for the "fire" I want to always burn bright in me and to shine out to others.
