Pastor Gene talked about our inner dialogue the other day. You know that ongoing conversation you have with yourself that no one else can hear. He said we needed a positive ID. So, despite some very difficult baggage with our house in Georgia that needs to sell now, I am attempting to keep a positive ID. My mom says to stay in the Word, which I am trying to do. However, along with that, my mind tends to work in song for some reason. I think of songs when someone says a phrase from a song or when something reminds me of a song. This happens entirely too much by the way. I therefore have an inner radio along with my inner dialogue. When I was little, my grandmother always woke us up by saying, "Rise and Shine Morning Glory!". For me, this translated into that children's song about Noah's Ark. You know the one...."the Lord said to Noah you're gonna build an arky arky". There is a verse that says, "So rise and shine and give God the glory glory!" I still sing this in my head whenever I hear anything about rise, shine, or morning glories.
In my quest to be positive, I have a current conflict of songs that will not get out of my head. It would've been much easier to use "Beautiful Day" by U2 like Pastor Gene did, but no I have to be much more annoying with my subconcious choices. Here is a sample of my inner radio...
More of the Noah song..."Rise and shine and give God the glory glory, everything is hunky dory!"
"Here's a little song I wrote....Don't worry, Be happy!"
"I'm walking on sunshine!"
"If your happy and you know it clap your hands..."
It goes on and on... feel good songs on either a child's level or that annoying can't stop singing it kind. Please help! I need to rock out instead. Happy is definitely good, but I need a new theme or better songs please!
On a more serious note, I want to thank my mother. The advice about staying in God's Word is working wonders on my positive inner dialogue!
